Louise McAuliffe

After an illustrious career spanning over two decades as a distinguished corporate and commercial lawyer, I am embarking on a new chapter by establishing my own practice. My journey has been marked by invaluable experiences garnered from esteemed institutions such as Byrne Wallace, Matheson, and A&L Goodbody, where I honed my skills alongside some of the industry’s brightest minds. My international tenure at the esteemed global firm K&L Gates in Sydney broadened my perspective and enriched my legal acumen. Additionally given the “in house legal” knowledge and skills acquired during my tenure at AIB and NTMA, I am also better equipped to navigate complex legal challenges and deliver exceptional results for my clients.

My Professional Experience and Expertise

Bachelor of Corporate Law & Spanish

My academic pursuits include a Bachelor's degree in Corporate Law with Spanish, reflecting my dedication to linguistic and cultural diversity. I received my degree at The National University of Galway in County Galway, Ireland.

2000-2001

Judicial Researcher

I worked for judges of the High, Circuit and District Courts. My role included preparing research memoranda (on discreet legal topics), proofreading, bench memoranda (summary of evidence), preparation for conferences, speeches & publications and compiling hand-books including District Court Handbooks.

2005

Corporate and Commercial Lawyer at Byrne Wallace, Matheson, K&L Gates Sydney, A&L Goodbody

My experience at this top firms includes advising and working with business’s boards, in-house counsel, financial, tax, HR, external lawyers, accountants, management, business and sales personnel relating to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructuring, commercial agreements and private equity across Ireland, Europe, US and Australia.

2020-2021

Senior Legal Advisor With The NTMA

More recently, my tenure as a senior legal advisor with the NTMA provided me with a unique opportunity to engage with complex commercial transactions involving state bodies. Collaborating closely with the NewEra division, I played a pivotal role in evaluating these transactions from a legal standpoint. I also worked closely with the NTMA Secretariat Team thus deepening my understanding of corporate governance and regulatory frameworks.

Further deepened my expertise in the intricacies of corporate law. I received my Masters of Law - LLM at University College Cork, Ireland.

As a testament to my commitment to excellence, I hold qualifications as a solicitor in both Ireland, accredited by the esteemed Law Society of Ireland, and Australia, where I pursued my legal studies at the esteemed University of Sydney in tandem with the Legal Profession Admissions Board.
